Are You a Masteral
Occasionally I post a question on Yahoo "Answers" and before I can bring myself to leave the distractions of the website I usually end up answering 2 or 3. I try to stick to what I know. Psychology and how to handle wild teenagers, or Psychology and how to handle crazy parents. Yesterday I strayed into the education field, which is not too far off my area of knowledge so i gave a few of them my attention. Most of them were questions pertaining to grammar usage, or something that jarred my memory of my freshman year in college and the term papers that were asked of me. But this one question had even me baffled for a short time. I didn't know whether to laugh, or cry because of my lack of knowledge. You would think someone with a degree would know what to call the degree, now, wouldn't you? All I know is, I didn't want anyone calling me by the word this woman had come up with, legit or not! Here's the question:
Which is correct masters degree or masteral degree. Doctors degree, doctoral degree or
doctorate degree?
Kindly give a support reference. Thanks!

They rarely have punctuation. It's not that these folks can't read or write or spell. I've decided that this is a norm that has developed in texting and has spilled over into e-writing. Just kidding. My answer: After some thought:
I might say I have a "Master;s" in Education. My x husband, who is an attorney, is called Dr. J. L.
SoandSo, but his degree is called a Juris "Doctorate". Some people have to do a thesis for their degree and I've heard it called their "Doctoral" thesis. But as far as the word "Masteral" goes..... well, it reminds me of a term that might be used to describe someone who spends entirely too much time alone!!!. I hope this sheds some light.
